Firstly there will certainly be no chat GPT used for this match report - Raspass is not a fan (Chat GPT maybe good for a few things, but will never be able to build you a house !)
Onto the game..... The 2's rocked up to a very wet and windy Batchworth to open their season, which truth be told looked more like a rugby pitch than a cricket one (Hannah the only player who felt at home)
Having examined the Astro wicket, the skipper decided he should bowl first and then had to see who had the best gripping trainers on
Jamie (Pink Shoes) and Ben R (Tennis Shoes) were the two choosen - Jamie clearly working over time in the gym as he sent the stumps into orbit for the first 2 wickets
Raspass and Pramood then came on and picked up a few more wickets - Mandeep taking the first of two stunning catches (It has been nearly 2 years since his last game so clearly he been saving them up)
Now for the dropped catch from a certain R Chown - Who in his defense had to cover a bit of ground on the boundary , and had removed his posh gilet. He did make up for this while batting, more on that later
Harrish making his debut was then thrown the ball, and clearly not wanting sadda to take all the limelight managed to get 3 wickets of his own - Including a smart run out between him and Hannah
As the tail of Batchworth wagged - They managed to get up to 206 off their 40 overs
Some fine fielding on a very bobbly outfield - Lead by the returning Dave Callan , who still managed to dive and throw himself around as always
With straws being drawn (And umbrellas) at lunch as to who should open the batting it was left to another player making his debut (Nas) and Dave C
Sadly the batting (Even with chat GPT) i cant make last that long as wickets fell as much as the rain
Nas looking very assured and composed , and a player to watch for the season
The highlights - Mandeep batting like he was 21 again, Pramood showing great patience , a Harish 6 and Raspass making Jamie face the fast bowler as he feared for his life
But the Alex Stewart award for shot of the day goes to Richard Chown - Who picked up a short ball, full swivel and pull shot (Even held the pose) and sent the ball one bounce crashing into the trees - Harry And Euan your dad still has moves !
Eaton Bray 110 All Out
A defeat, but some great points picked up and a special mention
Massive thanks to the two souls who braved the wind and the rain - Ann Johnson And Zara !
Next Up - Home Vs Pinner
