The 2's travelled to face the "lovely bunch" that is Hemel Hempstead, who are also head and shoulders the best team in the league
Now if there is one thing you don't see very often is a league game being played on an Astro pitch - Cue the black trainers on show (Or in Jaco's case red and black)
Skipper lost the toss (Again) and EB would bat first - Opening up was Harry Chown (Butler) and Dhruv (Jaiswal)
Harry (Clearly not wanting to play more than 20 overs) was not hanging around, and after some lovely boundaries was on his way
Enter DK (Root) and as has been the theme all year EB look to set a platform working the ball into the gaps and using clever cricket to keep the scoreboard ticking
Dhruv departed for a well made 32 - Pumps (Cairns) was next man in and the groin injury that caused his downfall last week seemed to have disappeared (Or so we all thought) DK was then out for 27 as Hemel turned the screw
Jaco (Kallis) joined Pumps and it was a case of Deja Vu (Maybe just more sparklers than outright fireworks this time) The two of them set about the young disciplined bowlers, while Jaco cleared the rugby posts on the next pitch !
Pump's groin then had had enough , and went again - But not before he brough up another 50
Jaco and Pumps fell in quick succession- Jaco 25 and Pumps 64, but the damage was mainly done
Raspass (Elham), Euan Chown (Wood) , Pramood (Khan) And Ben (Mullally) all came and went fast....... And it was left to Callum(Overton) and Neil (Underwood) to end not out
EB Ended 202 for 9
A fantastic score against some very good bowlers
EB knew they needed a massive team effort to defend this and they got the perfect start when Pramood struck
At the other end Euan was bowling with serious pace and movement. As the scoreboard rattled along (Thanks to the small boundary) the first change of Ben and Raspass delivered , as first Ben picked up the wicket of the match (Pitching leg and knocking into top of off) before he picked up another (Dhruv with the catch) and then Raspass got his reward (DK catch)
89-4 and EB well ontop. However there is a reason Hemel are up the top, their young batters showed class beyond their years to slowly tick the scoreboard over
The Hoover (Neil) came on does what he does in picking up two wickets (Ben with the catch and a bowled)
EB then tried everything they could, bowling change after bowling change but Hemel got over the line with only 2 overs to go
A fantastic game of cricket, played in great spirits and laughs - EB now lie second with Hemel top - but a great advert for Herts Cricket was on show
Man Of The Match - Pumps for his 64, and managing to field whilst injured
Huge thanks to the travelling "Barmy Army" that is the Chown Clan for their support
Next Up - Home Vs Watford
