The 2's Tie In A Cracker

The 2's Tie In A Cracker

Adam Raspass25 May 2025 - 17:12

A Pitch To Be Forgotten

The 2's travelled to deepest darkest Watford still unbeaten this season

The skipper won the toss and decided to have a bowl

On what , on the surface at least looked like a good track - But boy did it hide some demons ! The groundman clearly hadn't been to the Ozzie school of how to prepare a wicket- Instead opting to make a pitch designed for bouncers only !

A great start from the 2's created a lot of chances, but sadly none were able to be taken, this was until Liam held onto a smart catch for the first wicket

Tight bowling from all players ensured great pressure. Sadly they say catches win matches and with a total of 6 catches being put down it wasn't the best fielding display. That said, no heads dropped and they kept battling when in the past it would of been a whole different story

A good rotation of bowlers proved key, as all bowlers were up to the task and wickets shared around - Raspass 3, Neil 3, Liam 1, Syed 1, Stefan 1 and Pumps 1

Keir and Jaco taking 2 good catches each

Fielding Highlights - Not fielding but Liam falling over a bag (Twice) Pumps nearly taking a one handed catch (2 weeks running) and Beef arriving late in shiny new shoes and no voice

Watford End 119 All Out

A score which you would say would be a walk in the park.... On most grounds that is

Having wondered why the Watford players seemed to be swinging from the word go, it became clear after the EB players tried to play proper cricket shots. To say the ball (On a good length) would take off like a tennis ball is not an understatement - You might as well play cricket on the M25 !!- Ask Stefan's grill

EB soon found themselves in a world of trouble as Watford clearly knew how to bowl on this pitch - 25-6 and it looked to be a heavy defeat

That was before Tweedledum and Tweedledee walked to the crease (Jaco And Raspass)- Ill let you work out which one was who ?

These two ,not at all known for their patience needed to dig in deep and try and hang about

A few blows to the body, and a few pats on the head kept the temperature at least in the middle warmer than the spectator's under duvets !

LBW after LBW appeal came and went (Most of the middle of the bat) and the partnership grew. When Jaco didn't middle one he fell for gutsy 28. EB 87-8 and in a with a shout again

The skipper then departed soon after for a gritty 40, leaving EB needing 15 to win

Syed and Callum with some smart running got EB to level the scores, but sadly Neil ended the innings caught to leave the scores all level

EB 119 All Out - Scores Tied !

Man Of The Match - Raspass For His 3 Wickets And 40 Runs

A quite amazing game and under great pressure and environment it was a good result for Eaton Bray....And learning

With Huge Thanks To The Tikka Fan Base - Hannah's Mum, Bennett Clan, Braddon Clan (And some random Miss Morris) and Tamasin (Aka Tazzzmin)

Next Up- Home vs Hemel Hempstead
