The 2's opened their season away to the Harpenden. Once the changing rooms were located (A short hike away) it was a case of back to the good old days of changing in your cars - Liam for once very smug he came prepared !
The skipper then lost the toss (With a few words of wisdom from Neil) and EB would take to the field
Jamie and Oakes would take the new ball - With both competing for better figures, and who had the better beard. These two really set the tone with some great bowling - The pressure finally telling as Pumps held onto sharp catch for the first wicket off Oakes
From there it was a case of following on from the good start, and on a track you couldn't afford to bowl anything short or wide (Pramood can testify to that)
A few highlights in the field - Ben using his chest for a catch, Raspass with a bump ball caught and bowled (Clearly not) Jaco taking a catch off Lee at first slip, Pumps nearly with a one handed wonder catch, Jaco 2 hours late for a stumping, And Jamie held onto a catch !
The wickets were shared around. Raspass taking 2 , Pramood 2, Stefan 1, Oakes 1 And Neil 1. Pumps sweeping up the tail with 3 wickets for only 7 runs
Harpenden All Out - 132
EB knew this was gettable - Especially given their batting line up, but the game isn't played on paper
Lee and Liam would open up for EB - With the scorers having trouble telling them apart, after trying to work out who was taller ?
Lee was a man on a mission, quickly dispatching boundary after boundry off the opening batsmen to get EB off to a great start. Liam not to be outdone and wanting to score fantasy points then went up a gear with some stunning pull shots
These two had put on 62 for the first wicket, as Liam fell for 29. Lee completed a very deserved 50 before sadly he fell for 55
It was left to Ben and Pumps to see EB over the line. Ben finishing 25 not out and Pumps 15 not out
EB winning by 8 wickets and off to a great start. It was a real team performance, and has set the standard now going forward
