The 2's took on Berkhamsted under what certainly wasn't the weather of the last few weeks
A windy and cloudy toss was won by the skipper, who decided to have a bat first
Ben, fresh from his Oscar winning match report writing would open up with Stefan. These two then set about laying the perfect foundations, rotating the strike and putting away any bad balls. A 58 run partnership was finally broken as Stefan fell for 15
Ollie in at 3 then fell to the ball of the day from the impressive young Berko bowler, caught behind for 12. Pumps, having looked solid and starting to go through the gears was sadly undone by a equally impressive slower ball for 29
Meanwhile at the other end the calm Mr Nye was going about his business like every good postman should. DK, the most unlucky man of the day was caught to a one handed wonder catch in the covers
Jaco fresh from his few weeks rest decided to play his own game and started taking aim at the parked cars, nearly causing havoc as his 6 only just missing them
Ben brought up his first ever Eaton Bray 50- A fantastic knock, with shades of Harry Brook being sung from the crowd. Ben finally fell for 79, but with the damage done it was left to Jaco (27) and Jamie (1) to end not out
EB ended with 219/7 Off 40 Overs
A great score, foundations laid early doors and some big lower order hitting - The perfect combo
The young Berko team thou would not take this lying down, and went about it in true bazeball style
Ignoring the caught behind that never was (See Jamie for clarity) , the young opener road his luck at times, but also punished anything short
Oakes struck first, Pumps taking the catch. While at the other end Jamie was keeping himself warm (Frustrated) as he beat the bat time and time again with no reward
The skipper brought himself on and quickly removed the number 3 LBW, while at the other end the young opener brough up his 50 and continued to frustrate EB
Raspass then picked up 2 more - Finally removing the opener (Caught and Bowled) and then bowled another. The wickets continued to tumble as Stefan spun one through the defense of another Berko batsmen
Pramood and Neil were then tasked with cleaning up the tail. Pumps taking a smart catch off Pramood before Neil's "mystery" ball bowled a batsmen through his legs
A run out off a no ball had everyone confused, before it was left to Jaco to end proceedings with a smart piece off glove work to claim a stumping
Wickets - Raspass 3, Oakes 1, Stefan 1, Pramood 2, Neil 1, Run Out 1
Berko ended 159 - EB winning by 60 Runs
A great performance and now means the top 3 in the league are only separated by 1 point !
Postman Pat (Ben) and his black and white cat (Not called Jess thou) - Was the man of the match
Thanks to the crowd who braved the weather - The Bennett Clan, Lorna & Honda (And Bella) Mandeep, Zara and Ozzie
Next Up - Another Home Game vs Harpenden
