The 2's knew they needed a win to keep the pressure on at the top of the league
They welcomed the lovely Boxmoor team to a very unusually cold Rye
The skipper lost the toss (Four on the bounce now) and EB would bowl first
EB's youngsters of Jerry And Euan opened ,with Jerry making the first blow as he clattered the stumps backwards
Now usually what follows is a regular spell of wickets, however the two Boxmoor batsmen clearly didn't get the script
What followed was a near 100 run partnership, with some good batting but aided by a few drops in the field from EB
That said (As Nico delivered his Mandela esk speech) that its not how you drop it, but its how you react after
And ,leading from the front Nico took ball in hand and dully sent one of the danger men packing. As Jerry came back for his second spell he claimed the other - This left Boxmoor 104-3 and still with a good foundation to build on
What then followed was a clinical display from EB to wrap things up in double quick time
The skipper, Jerry and Nico all took more wickets, Euan and Hannah combined well for a run out. The Hoover (Neil) then wasted no time with a wicket from his first ball, as it was left to Euan Chown who bowled a magical spell of 7.2 Overs for only 7 runs to take the final wicket
Jerry picking up the most wickets - 3 For 14
Boxmoor All Out For 131
A great fightback from EB (Mandela would of been proud)
At tea and with the football season now started there was some happy faces , and a few less so (Mainly Luton fans)
Opening up would be Ben and Dhruv , who were looking to build a strong start as always . And things were going along nicely before Ben got the ball of the game, a simply unplayable swinging delivery that he duly nodded in appreciation as he left the field
Sachin joined Dhruv and what followed was EB's very own 107 run partnership. The two of them batted effortlessly, dispatching any bad balls and not allowing pressure to build
Sachin finished 64 not out , a great knock with some mighty blows (And loosing a few balls in the process) while Dhruv was 32 Not Out , carrying on from his great form over the last few weeks
EB wining by 9 wickets
A convincing performance, and just goes to show you should never drop your head in sport - As things can change very quickly
