Eaton Bray hosted Langleybury after the reverse fixture was rained off, in what was a key game to try and avoid relegation
EB won the toss and decided to have a bat first
Now like all best laid plans they have a tendency to go out the window - And this was another one of those times
With Langleybury bowling a very right line, and EB's shot selection questionable- wickets tumbled at an alarming rate
So much so that the skipper needed to be escorted round the boundary by Oakes to de stress as EB found themselves 71-7 , and seemingly dead and buried
However Oak and DK had other ideas ! These 2 then set about a bazeball style counter attack which took everyone by surprise. DK making an amazing 57 , while at the other end Oak managed his top score for the club with a brilliant 31 - The two of them putting on a 63 partnership
EB all out for 143 - Still short of what they wanted, but far more than everyone assumed about an hour earlier
With the young guys away on county duty it was left to the older heads of Syed and Oakes to open the bowling - Oakes striking inside the first over. And when Stefan took a very hard catch over this shoulder off Syed EB looked very much on top
However Langleburys number 3 (Graham Thorpe esk) dug in and started to get the scoreboard moving
EB knew that if they could remove the left hander they would win the game, so the ball was thrown to the sun tanned skipper
What proceed was first a build up of pressure, and then 5 wickets in the space of 4 overs
Barm then mopped up the tail to dismiss Langleybury for 103 - EB winning by 40 runs
Wickets - Adam 5, Barm 2, Syed 2, Oakes 1
Special mention to all from Langleybury - a very lovely team and a great ethos and team spirit at that club
Huge thanks to Pumps for Umpiring, and to a great crowd for their support - Zara, Ciara, Freddie, Teegan, Pearson Clan, Mandeep and Daren
Next Up - An Away Game vs Ley Hill
