Outlaws lose their first game...

As the team arrived at Winslow Town CC, they were greeted to a pitch that looked to be used and a little rough around the edges and with some quoting as saying its a 'little soft'. Simon Wyatt (Winslow Town CC Captain) won the toss and took little time to decide to have a bat first!

He also took little time to take a look at our bowlers as he proceed to hit 50 off 4 overs with our opening bowlers Aaron Gauntlett, Joe Moss and Jamie Osborne all going for double figures off their first overs. Jaco Jacobs kept it tight from the other end but the opposition captain continued to lose the pink ball in the overgrown boundary and beyond as Guy Edwins was also given the same treatment. However, Sri Kalai got the break through we needed with the opening skipper departing on 111 of 47 balls (7 Sixes & 11 Fours). Sri Kalai then got the other opener shortly after. Aaron Gauntlett returned for his second spell and spun his web with his first ball before some good work in the field from Joe Moss opened up both ends with 4 overs to go. A quick fire 19 from the new bat, brought Winslow's total to 193-6 - a hard but achievable chase.

Out walked, Joe Moss and Russ Bennett to the crease - with a young Mossy telling Russ, 'lets not be too silly - we have plenty of time'. Russ Bennett departed for 18 off 18 balls whilst Joe Moss took the leisurely approach and allowed the in-form Jaco Jacobs to get off to a quick start and kept up with the rate for a few overs. Joe Moss continued to tick the scoreboard over until Jaco Jacobs fell to a 'slow/pedestrian spinner' on 52 off 35 balls. The skipper continued to drop down the order as well as sacrificing Glenn Hearn & Phil Kennett to send out the 'big guns' and try to get within touching distance of the total. Richard 'ozzie' Osborne certainly did that and once Joe Moss realised it was Thursday - he started to unleash some boundaries as well. Sadly it was too little to late as he was run out on 58 off 50 balls. Leaving Richard Osborne (20*) and Sri Kalai (7*) to see out the innings and fall short of Winslow's total by 25 runs.

Even if the pitch didn't look that great, it certainly played fantastic with 361 runs scored and 9 wickets taken. Big well done to Winslow Town CC and we look forward to welcoming them to The Rye Gardens in a few weeks time.
